Opportunity

We previously partnered with Upbring to set aside apartments in three affordable properties in Austin for kids aging out of the foster care system. Young adults aging out of foster care face a greater likelihood of homelessness and incarceration, and are also unable to find a place to live, a job, or the educational opportunities required to embrace adulthood to the best of their abilities.

Impact

Stable affordable housing and a supervised independent living program — with case management, direct assistance, life skills training, mentoring, college and career planning, and mentorship — helped young adults achieve independence as they transitioned from foster care to adulthood.
